About the Fund
The Sustainable Communities Challenge Fund (the Fund) is a grant program for local action on climate change in Nova Scotia, delivered by the Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities on behalf of the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Climate Change. The Fund will be distributed over multiple rounds and will provide access to non-repayable grants of $75,000 to $1,000,000 to support community-led efforts to reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions, or to prepare for and respond to, the impacts of a changing climate.
Fund Objectives
The core objectives of the Fund are to support strategic projects that:
- Support the implementation of initiatives that avoid and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to Nova Scotia’s targets for emission reduction.
- Improve community capacity to adapt in an ongoing way to the changing climate and implement projects that help reduce vulnerability and exposure of human and natural systems.
